The Flood Watch Has Been Extended For Hudson County With Rain Totals Updated

The expected rain totals for Hudson County have been updated by the National Weather Service.

NORTH JERSEY, NJ — The updated forecast for late Sunday into Monday now calls for up to 3 inches of rain in Hudson County, the possible flooding, thunderstorms, and "strong to damaging winds."

A flood watch has been issued for the region from 4 p.m. Sunday through 1 p.m. Monday, which encompasses both Hudson River high tides. Originally, the watch period was to end at 6 a.m.

The city of Hoboken said Saturday, "The Office of Emergency Management reminds residents to avoid flood-prone areas. Intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour could result in flooding in low-lying areas. Barricades have been deployed near flood-prone intersections. Do not walk or drive through barricades or flooded areas. Please report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.

"Hoboken could experience wind gusts of up to 30 mph. Residents should secure all loose objects outside or bring them inside, especially from balconies. Outdoor tents should be taken down depending on the wind load."

The NWS forecast for Hudson County for Sunday night says, "Showers. Low around 46. Breezy. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible."

High tide in Hoboken during that period will be at 6:41 p.m. Sunday and 6:58 a.m. Monday.
