NORTH JERSEY, NJ — With more than $3 million raised by just two of the four candidates in Tuesday's 8th District Congressional primaries, voters can cross their fingers and hope the attack ads will simmer down soon. You have until 8 p.m. on Tuesday to cast your ballot in this heated race.

New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District includes most of Hudson County (including Hoboken and Jersey City), Elizabeth in Union County, and Newark's north and east wards.

The Democrat and the Republican who emerge victorious in each party primary on Tuesday will face off against each other in the Nov. 5, 2024 general election.

Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Candidates Running

Registered Democrats an choose on Tuesday from among three candidates: incumbent Rob Menendez Jr., Hoboken Mayor Ravi Bhalla, and Jersey City resident Kyle Jasey.

Menendez Jr., besides serving in Congress, is an attorney. Mayor Bhalla is also an attorney. Jasey is an entrepreneur and owner of a real estate financing business.

All three are fathers who live in Hudson County.

On the Republican side, Anthony Valdes is running unopposed in the 8th District Congressional primary.

Who Can Vote

Unaffiliated voters are eligible to vote in person on Tuesday in either the Democratic or Republican Primary Election, by declaring their party at the polls. Registered Democrats and Republicans are only permitted to vote in their party’s respective Primary Election.
