Accident, Disabled Bus Cause Lincoln Tunnel Delays On Monday: Authorities

Find out why you were staring at car bumpers for up to an hour on Monday morning at the Lincoln Tunnel.

Drivers traveling through the Lincoln Tunnel during their morning commute on Monday found themselves staring at the bumper of the car in front of them for as long as an hour.

According to the Port Authority of NY/NJ, the massive traffic backup was caused by two separate incidents.

A Port Authority spokesman informed Patch that around 8:29 a.m., a three-vehicle accident took place on the westbound portion of Route 495 at the base of Logans Ramp.

The accident caused delays but didn’t affect the X-Bus Lane operations, and was cleared around 8:40 a.m., according to a Port Authority incident report.

At that time, a disabled bus in the north tunnel caused further delays until it was cleared around 9 a.m., authorities said.
