After Hoboken Car Crash, Man Charged With DWI And Using Phone
Hoboken police charged a 47-year-old North Bergen man on Tuesday after a car crash.
HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken police arrested a 47-year-old North Bergen man on Tuesday after a car crash at 14th and Garden streets.
Jose Carreno was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, and use of wireless telephone in moving vehicle.
Police said that around 9:35 p.m., Officer Tyrone Huggins responded to a motor vehicle crash in the area of 14th and Garden streets.

Huggins suspected that one of the drivers was under the influence of an intoxicant. A standardized field sobriety test was conducted by Police Officer Anthony Rutkowski, who determined that Carreno was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Carreno was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and transported to police headquarters. He provided breath samples and received motor vehicle summonses for the charges.

He was released to a responsible party.
Police said that he was charged for the phone because,"On scene investigation gave the officer cause to believe that he was using a cell phone at the time of the crash."
