HOBOKEN, NJ — An eagle-eyed Patch reader spotted singer and actress Jennifer Lopez having a low-key lunch in Hoboken on Tuesday, presumably during downtime from filming "Kiss of the Spider Woman" in Jersey City.
When Patch posted photos and a short writeup, thousands of people read the article — but as is often the case with entertainment news, some went out of their way to leave a comment claiming they actually don't care.
"Who cares," commented a woman on Facebook.
"Who cares," commented a man, as well.
"Who cares," commented a second woman.
"Checking the radar for someone who cares," said a meme posted by a North Jersey man.
"Elysian...best fries," noted another reader, about the fries that were poised near J. Lo's plate at the historic Elysian Cafe.
The pseudo-apathy and faux indifference were echoed around other social media.
The number of comments exceeded those on recent news coverage of rent increases, homelessness, health care, heat enforcement, crime, politics, mental health, and the schools.
Readers who don't care about celebrity stories are encouraged to use social media to also share investigative stories on issues ranging from tenant laws to poverty to crime — or to spread stories to help find someone who's missing. Or, you can post a letter or release on Patch using these instructions.
