Out of the 20 guest speakers, more than half were distinguished alumnae.  Many others were parents of current students.  Nadia Shevchuk Maczaj, Class of 1982 spoke to the students about her careers in Archeology and Farming.  She had this to say about returning to her alma mater: “It is nice to go back to where I was and to reflect on where I’ve been.”  A graduate of Rutgers University, Maczaj fell into archeology by accident and after a ten-year career, married, had a family and became a farmer.  She and her family support their passions and work as a family running Rusty Plough Farm, a small scale organic farm in Ellenville, New York.  In her session, she worked with students to make butter.  According to freshman Elinor Mokaya of Jersey City, “We put cream in a jar, passed it around the room, took turns shaking it and watched it turn to butter!”

Lynne Seborowski ’81 is the Assistant Hudson County Prosecutor.  She said, “The girls had such great questions.  They were interested in finding out about all the different career options available to them.”  She went further by saying, “I loved seeing the same strong type of women as when I was here.”
