HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken will host a special Memorial Semiquincentennial Parade this year to celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary, officials said this week.

The parade, anticipated to be the largest in Hoboken’s history, will step off on May 30 at 11 a.m. from First and Washington streets.

American Legion Post 107 member Joe Truglio, the grand marshal, will lead a number of bands, floats, veterans, and dignitaries, said Post Commander John Carey.

“Generations of the Truglio family have served our country and community,” he said, noting that Truglio himself served in the Vietnam War. His father was a World War II veteran, and his uncles, Peter and Jack, are named on Hoboken’s World War II Memorial for their service and sacrifice.

Parade highlights will include the 63rd Army Band, the Hawthorne Caballeros, and the Rockin’ Hoboken High School Redwings, as well as themed floats carrying local veterans and dignitaries.
