UPDATE: Restaurant Closes On Hoboken's Main Drag, 'For Now'
A bar/restaurant on Washington Street, blocks from the Hoboken train station, is closed "for now," signage says.
HOBOKEN, NJ — A tavern/restaurant at the base of Hoboken's busy Washington Street posted signage this month saying it's closed "for now." But the owners of a bar several blocks away are set to take it over.
Mills Tavern at 125 Washington St. posted signs this month saying "Closed for now, Under new Ownership." The Pig and Parrot, a bar in the old Hotel Victor site near the PATH station, have applied to buy the liquor license, Jersey Digs noted this week, citing the application submitted to the Alcoholic Beverage Control Board.
The tavern, in a part of the mile-square city with many bars and restaurants — and located approximately six blocks from the train station — didn't give much indication on its social media of what its next phase will be. They recently hosted a New Year's Eve party.
