Baby Born In World Trade Center PATH Station

Port Authority police officers arrived at the platform to find a pregnant, full-term woman going into labor.

Her name is Asenat Abdrabo.

That’s what the newborn’s parents decided to call their baby girl, who was born early Tuesday on the concourse of the PATH station at the World Trade Center.

The birth took place around 2:30 a.m., when Port Authority police officers arrived at the platform to find a pregnant, full-term woman, who had been on her way to the hospital when she began to go into labor.

With the woman’s husband and her two-year-old son watching, police prepared the area and aided for a possible birth, Port Authority spokesman Joe Pentangelo told Patch.

Officer Brian McGraw – who has EMT experience in Jersey City – helped to monitor the woman for vital signs and triage until EMT responders arrived on the scene shortly afterwards and helped to deliver the healthy baby girl, who weighed in at 6 pounds and 5 ounces.
