Bank In Hoboken To Shut For Good On Friday Afternoon
A bank in Hoboken will turn off its ATM Friday afternoon, then close its doors for good an hour later.
HOBOKEN, NJ — Kearny is saying good bye to Hoboken.
Kearny Bank, located at 1470 Garden St. in Hoboken — near the northern entrance to the city and next door to Elysian Charter School — will close its sunshine-filled 14th Street location this Friday at 3 p.m., according to a note on its door.
The ATM will be shut at 2.

The bank had sent letters to account holders on March 30, saying they'd close at the end of June.
The letter said, "All accounts currently maintained at the Hoboken branch will automatically be transferred to our North Bergen branch, located at 8901 John F. Kennedy Blvd."

They noted that the North Bergen branch has a drive-up window and a 24/7 ATM, and best of all, parking.
Staff members at the bank on Wednesday said they don't know what's coming in its place.
A representative for a day camp that just opened next door, Steve & Kate's Camp, said they aren't planning to expand into that building.

Hoboken has seen several banks come and go in the last few years.
Blue Foundry Bank opened a branch on Washington Street late last year. But others closed or cut their hours during the pandemic and did not return to normal.
The PNC Bank location uptown closed last year.
A branch of the Bank of America on Washington Street will close this summer. Its other branch on lower Hudson Street will remain open.
