Bank Robbed On Washington Street In Hoboken After Suspect Demands $40K: Police
Police arrested a Hoboken man, 24, after he made off with cash from a bank on Washington Street last week, officials said.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The Hoboken police charged a 24-year-old resident with robbery last week after he allegedly stole $1,100 from a Washington Street bank in the afternoon.
Jamil Deacon of Hoboken was charged with robbery, making terroristic threats, hindering, and tampering with evidence police said.
Police said that they responded to Santander Bank at 214 Washington St. around 2:47 p.m. on Tuesday, March 28.

Police said that a suspect passed a note to tellers demanding that they hand him $40,000 in cash. Police also allege that he verbally threatened to shoot them if they did not comply.
The teller gave the suspect what was in her drawer, approximately $1,100 cash, and he left, police said.

When Hoboken police arrived at the bank, witnesses informed them that the stolen money had a
tracking device attached.
Officers tracked the money to about a block away, at Second and Bloomfield Streets.
Officer Roberto Cuevas spotted a suspect nearby that location, police said. Cuevas and officers Dylan Archilla and Marco Grossman arrested Deacon.
Police found evidence including the stolen cash, the tracker, the note, and clothing that matched witness descriptions, police said.
Deacon was processed at the Hoboken Police Department and transported to the Hudson
County Correctional Facility, police said. Police said no other information was available.
