Bergen County's Kimberly Akimbo Will Finally Meet Her End (On Broadway)
The Tony-award winning musical about a lonely 15-year-old girl in Bergen County will have its final performance next weekend.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — You may have seen the ads for the musical comedy "Kimberly Akimbo" on Broadway, but did you know that Kim is your fictional neighbor?
The Tony-winning musical tells the story of Kimberly Levaco, a Bergen County teen who has a disorder that makes her age rapidly. All she wants is to turn 16 and maybe have some fun at Great Adventure.
Playwright David Lindsay-Abaire was born in Boston and eventually moved to Brooklyn, so why exactly did he set the show in Bergen County? Patch tried to find out, but the musicals' spokespersons were mum.

Lindsay-Abaire wrote the play back in 2000. As with most writing projects, it followed a long and winding road to land off-Broadway in 2021, then on Broadway in late 2022.
The last show is Sunday, April 28. You can still get tickets here.
