Bicyclist Struck And Killed By Car Near Jersey City/Hoboken Border
A bicyclist was fatally struck by a car in Jersey City, blocks from the Hoboken border, over the weekend, a city spokesperson said.

JERSEY CITY, NJ — A bicyclist was struck and killed in downtown Jersey City on Saturday, blocks from the Hoboken border, a city spokesperson said.
A male cyclist was hit on Saturday around 4 p.m. by a 2018 Hyundai Elantra near the intersection of 16th Street and Marin Boulevard, said Jersey City police spokesperson Kim Wallace-Scalcione.
Police who were responding to a 911 call found the bicycle facing north on Marin Boulevard, with the Hyundai parked nearby.

"It appears the driver attempted to turn left at the intersection when the vehicle made impact with the bicyclist," Wallace-Scalcione said. "The driver remained on scene and called 911."
The bicyclist was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after, she said.

The investigation is ongoing. No criminal charges have been filed at this point, she said.
Wallace-Scalcione did not give additional details about the victim or driver.
Reports said this is the ninth fatal crash in Jersey City so far in 2023.
