Everyday Accounting, Hoboken Tax Firm, Featured on PIX11 News
You may be missing out on money-saving deductions by self-filing your taxes. When in doubt, it's best to see a tax professional.

PIX11 News asked a local tax expert about some lesser-known deductions that can help save money during tax time. Everyday Accounting, a tax firm based in Hoboken, NJ was featured on PIX11 News on February 3, 2025. Founder and CEO, David Gergis, shared tax tips that can yield big savings.
If you are self-employed and work from home, you can deduct portions of your mortgage, utility bills, and more. If you have children under the age of 16, you are eligible to receive the Child Tax Credit, which is $2,000.00 per child. You may also write off child care expenses.
For W-2 workers, Gergis recommends putting money into a tax deductible Health Savings Account (HSA) and withholding taxes on your W-4 for at least one quarter of the year. Gergis says, "Put a little extra withholding, $100-$150 out of your paycheck to lower what you owe or maybe you’ll get a bigger refund.”
