Flooding, Hazardous Weather Reported Throughout Hoboken

As the Nor'easter arrives, flooding has been reported locally and around the county. Wind advisory, flood watch warnings are in effect.

Winter Storm Damon has arrived in Hoboken. Flooding has been reported throughout Hoboken and Hudson County, with the National Weather Service issuing a wind advisory, flood watch, and hazardous weather warnings for the area.

As the heavy rains begin to pour down on Hudson County, flooding has been reported throughout Hoboken, on West Side Avenue in North Bergen, and in Jersey City near 18th Street and Marin Boulevard, NJ.com reports.

A Jersey Journal photographer captured several scenes of the flooding in Jersey City, as multiple cars became stuck in flooded water and parents waded through flood waters to carry their children to safety.

The storm will slowly churn up the coast, dumping rain and wet snow that will be ”heavy enough to bring down the trees and power lines,” said Ari Sarsalari, a meteorologist on The Weather Channel.

Congestion on the Garden State Parkway and New Jersey Turnpike was not abnormally problematic, however, one crash has been reported at Exit 143 that closed the left lane.

NJ Transit was offering full system wide cross-honoring for the entire service day Tuesday, enabling customers to use their ticket or pass on an alternate travel mode - rail, bus or light rail.

Flights at Newark Liberty International Airport are not suffering delays at this time, however, problems are beginning to emerge at LaGuardia and Philadelphia International, where average delays are upwards of two hours, the FAA told NJ.com

Hoboken will see at least two inches of rain during this storm, with some snow expected Wednesday night into Thursday.
