On Flooding In Hoboken, Jersey City, Newark And Beyond: Meeting Wednesday

HOBOKEN, NJ — A group that is trying to find solutions to flooding in Northeastern New Jersey — particularly in Hoboken, Jersey City, Bayonne, and Newark — is holding two virtual community meetings this Wednesday.

Resilient NJ/Northeastern NJ is a project that brings together planners, engineers, designers, and other experts to address flood-related hazards at a regional scale.

The project is administered through the NJDEP Bureau of Climate Resilience Planning and has the participation of Jersey City, Newark, Hoboken, Bayonne, Hudson County, the Ironbound Community Corporation, and HOPES Community Assistance Partnership.

At two virtual meetings on Wednesday — one from 4-5:30 p.m. and one from 6:30-8 — attendees will discuss "changing flood risks, physical and programmatic solutions for flooding, and the development of a regional resiliency action plan to address flooding," according to the city of Hoboken.

People must RSVP in advance to participate, but they can also watch using the link below.

Both meetings will be led in English and Spanish, with American Sign Language interpretation.

  • Long Beach Island (Long Beach, Beach Haven, Barnegat Light, Ship Bottom, Harvey Cedars, and Surf City)
  • Atlantic County Coastal Region (Ventnor, Atlantic City, Longport, Margate, Northfield, Pleasantville, and Brigantine)
