Former Assistant Provost Jumped From GWB, Family Says

Patrick Donohue went missing earlier this week; his car was found near bridge, reports say.

A New Jersey man who served as an assistant provost at The College of New Jersey for nearly a decade is presumed to be the 13th person to commit suicide by jumping from the George Washington Bridge this week.

According to multiple reports, Patrick Donohue, of Trenton, who went missing Tuesday night, jumped to his death from the Hudson River bridge the same night around 9:45 p.m.

While a body has not yet been located, Donohue’s brother told nj.com the family is certain it was him, and that his car was located near the bridge.

Donohue left his position at the college on July 1, cliffviewpilot.com reported.

According to his profile, still available on the college’s website, Donohue was an assistant provost for Community Engaged Learning Programs and Partnerships, responsible for the Bonner Institute for Civic and Community Engagement, the Sustainability Institute, the Institute for Prison Teaching and Outreach.

Donohue received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Rutgers University and taught political science at Middlesex County College for 11 years, the profile said.

The assistant provost was recently honored by the Greg Grant Academic Sports Academy for commitment to youth development in Trenton.
