The National Weather Service said in its Hazardous Weather Outlook, "A slow moving frontal system will bring locally heavy rain to the region late Monday through Tuesday. This could lead to flash flooding. The Weather Prediction Center has placed the region in a slight risk for excessive rainfall."
The Hazardous Weather Outlook was also issued for Essex, Passaic, Union and Bergen counties.
The NWS has provided a map of the expected rainfall in the region.
The predictions for Monday night and Tuesday are as follows:
Monday Night: Periods of rain. Low around 70. East wind 3 to 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Tuesday: Periods of rain. High near 74. Light and variable wind becoming east 5 to 7 mph in the morning. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible.
