"His passing was completely unexpected and the family is shocked and deeply saddened," the obit says.
Haynes was born in 1967, to Mattie Haynes and Ralph Barnet in Jersey City, the obit says. He attended Ezra L. Nolan School and later obtained his GED and certification in air conditioning and
refrigeration from Lincoln Technical School in Union.
"Ralph was an affectionately loving person, known for his infectious smile and caring heart. He was a gentle giant and there was nothing that he would not do for you," the obit read. "If you called him and said you needed his help; he would drop everything that he was doing to come to help you.
"His laughter was infectious and would make you laugh even when his jokes were not funny. He was a hard-working man; there was no job too big or too small that he could not do ... Ralph was always the big brother, uncle, cousin or family friend that would make sure you were safe. Although his life was tragically cut short; Ralph lived life to the fullest with no regrets or shame."
