Hoboken Bar Bouncer Allegedly Assaulted Patron, ABC Investigation In Works

HOBOKEN, NJ — Several staff members of the 1 Republik bar in Hoboken are facing endangerment charges after a bouncer allegedly assaulted a patron while on duty, police say.
According to the Hoboken Police Department, officers responded to the area of 3rd and Hudson streets on Sunday after receiving a report of a 28-year-old Edgewater man lying unconscious on the ground. Police arrived to find an off-duty officer – who had called for an ambulance - already on the scene with the victim.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene soon afterwards and rendered the victim medical aid, then transported him to Hoboken University Medical Center.

Emergency responders later transported the man to an area trauma center due to the severity of the injury, police said.
While at the hospital, investigators determined that the victim suffered a serious injury to his head, which may have contributed to the state in which he was found. At that time, detectives began to follow multiple leads and spoke to witnesses who may have encountered the victim during the evening, authorities said.

Their investigative efforts led investigators to 1 Republik at 221 Washington Street, where they determined that the victim had been a patron at the bar several hours prior to being found, police stated.
Detectives then determined that a security guard at the bar - Kyle Tinsley, 31, of Hoboken – allegedly assaulted the man while he was on duty that night, police said.
Tinsley turned himself in on Friday and was processed at police headquarters. Authorities charged him with aggravated assault and endangering an injured victim. He was assigned a $10,000 bail with a 10 percent option, which he was able to provide.
Police said that a tavern sheet will be completed and an ABC investigation will be conducted.
