Hoboken Man, 19, Charged In Connection With 2 Car Thefts
A Hoboken man, 19, was charged with receiving stolen property in connection with 2 car thefts.

HOBOKEN — Police charged a 19-year-old Hoboken man on Tuesday in connection with two car thefts — one of which had occurred the previous day in Jersey City, and one of which happened in January.
Police charged Randy Barrett with receiving stolen property (two charges) and eluding police.
Police said that shortly after 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday, Officers Tyrone Huggins and Joseph Lupo were on patrol in the area of Second and Monroe Streets.

The officers said they saw a vehicle fail to stop before entering the intersection. They called in the license number and tried to conduct a motor vehicle stop.
The vehicle in question had been reported stolen in Jersey City, police said. But when they tried to stop it, the driver sped away. Police did not pursue the vehicle.

However, the same officers then saw the vehicle parking at Fifth and Madison streets.
The officers said they safely stopped and identified the driver after he exited.
Police said the vehicle was stolen from Jersey City the day before, and the keys had been left in it.
Once at headquarters, Detectives Adam Colon and Fabian Quinones reviewed an incident involving a recovered stolen vehicle near Sixth and Harrison Streets on Jan. 25. Through their investigation they identified Barrett as being in possession of that stolen vehicle prior to abandoning it, police said.
Barrett received an additional charge of receiving stolen property based on that incident.
Both complaints were placed on a warrant and he was transported to Hudson County Correctional Facility.
