Hoboken OEM Taking Flood Precautions Amid Weather Forecast

See a list of Hoboken intersections which are "flood prone," according to city officials.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken city officials advised residents and visiting motorists that the area is under a “coastal flood advisory” on Monday.

Officials issued the following advisory amid the Nov. 26 weather forecast:

“Please be advised that a Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, Monday, November 26, and a Flash Flood Watch is in effect from today, Monday, November 26 at 12 p.m. through tomorrow, Tuesday, November 27 at 1 a.m. Average rainfall amounts of 1.5 to 2 inches are expected. Any intense rainfall of greater than 0.8 inch per hour may result in flash flooding.”

The City of Hoboken and North Hudson Sewerage Authority are working together to clear clogged catch basins throughout the municipality, officials said. Residents and visitors can report flooded intersections and clogged drain inlets by calling the NHSA Hotline at (866) 689-3970.

According to city officials:

“Due to the likelihood of flooding in some areas, the Office of Emergency Management is taking precautions by putting no parking signs (“No Parking Signs” in these areas should be taken as advisories, cars will not be towed) and barricades near flood prone intersections.”
