Hoboken Police Confirm Body Found In Hudson River: Reports

The incident is the latest among a growing list of bodies that have been found in the Hudson River over the past years.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken’s police chief said that the death of a woman found in the Hudson River late Sunday night is not being treated as suspicious, reports say.

A passerby spotted the 84-year-old New York woman’s body floating in the water near Maxwell Place Park and notified police, who arrived on the scene around 11 p.m., The Daily Mail reported.

Hoboken Police Chief Kenneth Ferrante told NJ.com that authorities are withholding the woman’s identity pending notification of her next-of-kin, but that “it’s clear there was no foul play involved in this incident.”

This weekend’s incident is the latest among a growing list of bodies that have been found in the Hudson River over the past years, including 24-year-old Hoboken resident Matthew Genovese, who was found dead in the local waterway after reportedly disappearing from a local bar, and 27-year-old Andrew Jarzyk, who was found in the Hudson River near Lackawanna Terminal.
