Hoboken Police Promise "Zero-Tolerance" during St. Patrick's Day Festivities on Saturday
$2,000 maximum fine for Public Drinking, Disorderly Persons, Public Urination and "Unruly House Parties"

On Saturday, thousands of celebrants will pour into Hoboken for the annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration, which will feature a city-wide pub crawl this year from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
And if they’re not careful, some may take the most expensive bathroom break of their lives.
A New Jersey News 12 report stated that the Hoboken Police Department will be continuing its “Zero Tolerance” enforcement of city code on Saturday, which the department widely publicized prior to last year’s celebration.

Common violations of city code during past St. Patrick’s Day celebrations have included Public Drinking, Disorderly Persons, Public Urination and “Unruly House Parties,” according to Hoboken police. Fines for these violations can reach a maximum of $2,000 and possible community service.
This year, the HPD will be joined by the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office’s Rapid Deployment Force, and police from NJ Transit, Port Authority, Stevens Institute of Technlogy and Westfield, according to a NJ.com report.

All 141 Hoboken police officers will be working for seven hours on Saturday, the report stated. In addition, the Hoboken Fire Department will be checking occupancy levels at bars in the city, and the NJ State Police will set up a DWI checkpoint on Route 78.
“In past years, some of our residents and guests become disorderly and unruly making it a difficult and unpleasant day for our residents,” stated HPD Chief Anthony Falco in a release last year.
