Hoboken Police Say Man Bashed Police Car In Front Of Headquarters

A Jersey City man was charged after he allegedly climbed atop a Hoboken police car and broke the windshield in front of police headquarters.

HOBOKEN, NJ —The Hoboken police arrested a Jersey City man after, according to police, he climbed on top of a Hoboken police car in front of police headquarters and bashed its windshield on Friday evening.

Police say an officer had to pull him off the vehicle.

Police arrested Glendell Murray, 29, of Jersey City at 6:24 p.m. on Friday in front of police headquarters at 106 Hudson St. and charged him with criminal mischief and obstructing the administration of the law.

Police say that Friday evening, Officer Tyler Soto observed Murray walking around a marked police vehicle parked in front of police headquarters.

After that, police say, the suspect was seen striking the driver-side rearview mirror and climbing onto the hood of the vehicle. Officer Soto ordered Murray to get down from the vehicle and notified police headquarters.

According to police, "Murray ignored Officer Soto’s orders and proceeded to stomp on the windshield, causing the windshield to shatter. Officer Soto continued to give commands and had to pull Murray down from the vehicle."

Murray was placed under arrest and was found to have an arrest warrant from Hudson County Sheriff, police say.

He was charged and transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
