Hoboken Restaurant Creates Rainbow Hummus For LGBT Pride Month
The Mediterranean bakery and grill, which has locations in Hudson County, created the colorful, vegan hummus to celebrate diversity.

HOBOKEN, NJ — The celebration of diversity and pride is humming along in Hudson County.
As part of an ongoing partnership with the Hudson Pride Center, Flatbread Grill of Hoboken and Jersey City created a unique menu item to celebrate diversity and raise funds for the center, which advocates for the local LGBTQ community: rainbow-colored hummus.
The Hoboken-born sisters who founded the Mediterranean bakery and grill - Fusun, Gonca, and Arzu Esendemir - said that they chose to partner with Hudson Pride for their locality and the center's active support and education of an at-risk population. As such, 15 percent of all sales revenue generated from the rainbow hummus will be donated to the organization.

The vegan rainbow hummus features “six different, all-natural flavors,” including an unnamed “traditional flavor” that has been a staple on Flatbread Grill's menu since it was founded in 2007. It's created with non-GMO, organic ingredients such as turmeric, ginger, spirulina and kale, according to the restaurant.
It’s not the hummus’ first public appearance; the colorful food was actually created in 2017 prior to its reissue this year. The rainbow hummus will be available for pre-order immediately and will be at the Hoboken and Jersey City locations on Friday, June 15.
