HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken has suspended street cleaning for two more days as the city works to remove snow overnight, street by street.

Street cleaning was originally to resume Monday, but is now suspended through at least Tuesday, the city said in a statement.

Patch has asked if the schedule will be revised again, and will update this story if more information is released.

Thanks to below-freezing temperatures and a January storm that dumped 11 inches of snow on the city, icy mounds still abound.

Garden Street, on Thursday

Temporary "No Parking" signs have been posted in areas that will have snow removal. Cars that are not moved will be subject to ticketing and towing, the city said.

The city and county have created this schedule of clearing these county roadways:

  • Feb. 9: Garden Street between 14th Street and Observer Highway
  • Feb.10: Park Avenue between Observer Highway between 14th Street
  • Feb. 11: Jefferson Street from Newark Street to 15th Street
  • Feb. 12: Adams Street from Newark Street to 15th Street

The city said the change was made after resident feedback.

"Overnight snow removal operations are scheduled for Garden Street between 14th Street and Observer Highway on Monday, starting at 6 p.m.," the city noted. "Vehicles must be moved by this time to avoid ticketing and towing. Intermittent rolling closures of Garden Street are expected, with the Hudson County Sheriff’s Department assisting with detours."

Discount Parking

The city said that resident parking permit holders can use city garages at a discount for $6 from 6 p.m. to 8 a.m., first-come, first-served.

The garages are Municipal Garage B (28 Second St.) and the Midtown Garage (371 Fourth St.)
