Jersey City 'Food Hall' Will Take Over 1800s Bread Factory

JERSEY CITY, NJ — All around the Powerhouse Arts District in Jersey City, former industrial buildings are transforming into new businesses and restaurants. Now the area will get a food hall with "a selection of top chefs," read an announcement Monday night.

"Coming in April 2024 — from the team that brought you CoolVines — Jersey City's 1st food hall!" said a message from CoolVines, the group of local liquor stores that also hosts tastings and events.

CoolVines recently announced their Hoboken location would close, but that they will keep open their Jersey City location.

Now, they will work on the Jersey City food hall as well.

They said the 8,700-square-foot business will be located in a 19th century bread factory building.

The Powerhouse Arts District of Jersey City is named for the iconic yellow former railroad powerhouse building three blocks from the waterfront. The area is served by a light rail station and has several modern apartment buildings rising nearby, as well as new restaurants.

The announcement said the chefs will prepare "a selection of epicurean street food. 2 bars serving natural wines, full alcohol and no/low alcohol cocktails, pre and probiotic beverages and other fantastic comestibles and imbibe-ables!"
