5 Hoboken Business Updates: New Restaurants, Freebies, Starbucks News
What's new among Hoboken businesses? Another new ice cream shop is on the way, Starbucks updates, and more.
HOBOKEN, NJ — As the business and restaurant scene continues to evolve in Hoboken, some doors have shut recently and others have opened. Here are five business updates in the mile-square city:
CoolVines in Hoboken recently posted a sign on the door saying they will be closing the shop "as part of a company-wide e-commerce program overhaul," but they'll still deliver in town. New signage for Wine Station has appeared at the location, at 211 Washington St. Watch for updates and head to their website to learn more.
Free ice cream — The new Morelia Paletas shop is giving away 3,200 ice cream pops this Friday and Saturday between 1 and 9 p.m. The pops (paletas) are free; toppings may cost a buck or two extra. Find out more here.

Speaking of ice cream — You may have read our story in April about Surreal Creamery, a sundae shop, coming to the former urgent care location at 1122 Washington St. While there has been little activity at the shop during summer, workers were seen transforming the shop this week, and a permit dated last month says it's still being turned into an ice cream shop.
Starbucks — The 314 Washington St. Starbucks reopened this month after closing for a redesign. The corporate headquarters didn't comment, but they've eliminated all of their indoor seating. The nearby Panera got some flak for saying they would remove much of their indoor seating because of fights among customers, but apparently they're not alone.

Main Street Pops — Local vendors return this Sunday to the spot under the 14th Street Viaduct for the monthly market from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The organizers say, "This Sunday, our Hoboken Artisan Market will feature The Mile Square Meltdown ice cream eating contest, 70+ artisan vendors, Story Time with The Hoboken Library, outdoor games and great tunes by Joe Taino." Find out more about that eating contest here. And find out about Main Street Pops here.
