Live Music And Free Kids' Activities Sunday In Hoboken For Earth Day

There will be live bands, a reptile show, art, and a full roster of fitness activities and live bands in Hoboken Sunday. Get details below.

HOBOKEN, NJ —The Hoboken Business Alliance and Main Street Pops are hosting a NJ Folk & Music Festival and kids' activities for Earth day this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Jackson Street Plaza at 770 Jackson St.

The day will include a range of things to do, from fitness activities to Earth Day crafts to a reptile show. There's also a schedule of musical acts.

While rain is expected the night before, forecasters say it will taper off by 5 a.m. Sunday morning, with a mostly sunny day ahead (get the Hoboken forecast here).

Activities Include:

  • Face Painting
  • Reptile & Bird Encounters with The NJ Snake Man
  • Up-cycled Wrapped Yarn Craft with Hoboken Rainbow Family
  • Bird Feeder craft & Lantern Fly education with The Girl Scouts
  • Bilingual Earth Day Art Class with Pinta & Play (for toddlers & kids up to age 5)
  • En Plein Air art class with Urban Arts (registration closed)
  • Free Community Art Project - Join Art educator & artist Elizabeth McParland and create faces out of laundry detergent jugs & bottle caps for a Plastic Pollution Totem Pole.

The Folk & Bluegrass Festival will feature performances by a wide range of artists. The scheduled lineup includes:

11 a.m. - Gospel Bluegrass with The Dirty Water Dogs - (Gospel music done in the bluegrass tradition)

11:30 a.m. - Hoboken School of Rock - (Local music students)

12:30 p.m. - Brendan Hartnett - (Singer/guitarist playing traditional folk and original songs)

1 p.m. - Demolition String Band - (A string band, weaving rustic harmonies within the bluegrass tradition)

2 p.m. - ALEOfolk Community Jam - Bring your instrument and join them.

3 p.m. - Davey and the Trainwreck - (Original music by a few of Hoboken's Sons celebrating the point where folk became electric)
