Longtime Hoboken Eye Doctors To Close Practice
A beloved Hoboken optometry practice has announced that its (married) doctors will retire after 37 years in the mile-square city.

HOBOKEN, NJ — After many years building a trusted medical practice, it can be hard to find the right person to pass it along to. Late last week, Hoboken eye doctors Randy and Beverly Kansky announced that their longtime eye practice will close when they retire this summer.
The Kanskys sent around this letter:
"First, we want to say Thank You, It has been an honor and a pleasure to provide eye care in Hoboken for the past 37 years. We appreciate that you chose us as your optometrists.

"We appreciate that in addition to caring for your vision we have often talked about food, travel, sports, and music. Some of you came to us as children, and now bring your own children to see us. The original name of our practice was Family Eye Care Associates. In these 37 years, you have become part of our family.
"The last few years have brought some big changes. We saw that life can be unpredictable. We decided it was time to slow down...."

The Kanskys had found a few potential successors to take over the practice, but it didn't work out.
"We have made the difficult decision to close the office," they wrote. "Our current lease expires at the end of August. Until then, we won't be scheduling any appointments, but we will be filling your contact lens orders and having lenses sent direct to you. Eyeglass orders will continue until the end of July.
"If you have any questions, please feel free to call or stop in. We'd appreciate the opportunity to say thank you in person. With much gratitude, Drs Randy and Beverly Kansky."
They Kansky couple met in 1980 while studying optometry at The New England College of Optometry in Boston, their practice website states. They started in Long Island and in 1986 revived Family Eye Care in Hoboken, which had recently closed.
