Man Charged With Hit And Run After Striking Woman On Bicycle In Hudson County: Prosecutor

A man in Hudson County has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash in which he hit a woman on an electric bike, prosecutors said.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — A man was charged on Friday with leaving the scene of a crash that seriously injured a female bicyclist in West New York, prosecutors said.

The Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit arrested Jason Flores of West New York this past Friday, Nov. 3, in connection with a West New York crash on Dec. 14, 2022.

Flores was charged with third-degree Knowingly Leaving the Scene of a Motor Vehicle Collision and third-degree Endangering an Injured Person, said the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.

When he was arrested, Flores was already being detained at the Hudson County Correctional Facility for an "unrelated matter," prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said that on Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2022, at approximately 12:20 p.m., the West New York Police Department was notified of an electric bicyclist struck in the area of 50th Street and Bergenline Avenue.

Police found a North Bergen woman, 33, with serious injuries. She was taken to Jersey City Medical Center, where she was treated for injuries that were not considered life threatening, prosecutors said.

The vehicle was later identified as an Acura MDX operated by Flores, prosecutors said.
