Man Hospitalized After Being Hit By Car In Hoboken; 28 Marijuana Bags Found In Car: Police
Police said that after they located the driver of the car, they found 28 suspected bags of marijuana in the vehicle.
HOBOKEN, NJ — A West New York man was hit with drug posession and motor vehicle charges last Friday after his car apparently struck a man crossing an intersection, forcing the latter to be hospitalized.
Andy Majano, 24, from West New York was charged at 1:46 a.m. on Oct. 22 with Assault by Auto, Knowingly Leaving the scene Motor Vehicle Accident, Possession with Intent to Distribute Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute within 1,000 Feet of a School Zone Marijuana, Possession with Intent to Distribute within 500 Feet of a Public Building Marijuana, and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose.
He was also given motor vehicle summonses for Driving While Intoxicated, Refusal to Submit Breath Sample, Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, and Failure to Stop or Yield.

Police said that around 1:39 a.m., Officer Michael Straten and Officer Jesse Castellano responded to the area of Third and Bloomfield streets on a report of a pedestrian struck by a car.
A man was lying on the southwest corner with injuries to his head, hands and right leg. He also complained of pain to his rib area, police said.

Police were told the man was hit while crossing an intersection and the vehicle continued north on Bloomfield Street.
However, the vehicle was found stopped nearby. Officer Straten conducted a motor vehicle stop as Officer Castellano attended to the pedestrian.
Officer Daniel Grossi performed a standardized field sobriety test and determined that Majano was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle, police said.
A search of Majano’s vehicle revealed 21 bags of over 6 ounces of suspected marijuana, police said.
Police said Majano was transported to headquarters were he refused to provide breath samples for chemical testing. Majano’s criminal charges were placed on a warrant and he was transported to the Hudson County Correctional Facility.
The pedestrian has been released from the hospital.
