Body Found In Passaic River Near Hudson County

The unidentified person was seen floating in the Passaic River near the Kearny waterfront in Hudson County, prosecutors said.

HUDSON COUNTY, NJ — The body of an unidentified man was found floating in the Passaic River near Kearny on Thursday evening, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

The Kearny Police Department received a 911 call reporting a man was seen in the river near Passaic Avenue and the Belleville Turnpike, prosecutors said. The Kearny police and fire departments arrived at the scene and confirmed the lifeless body of a man had been recovered. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The cause and manner of death have not yet been confirmed by the Regional Medical Examiner’s Office.
