New Concept Store Sells Beach and Travel Clothes
The aptly named 1FiftyFive opened Saturday at 55 First St.
The storefront space at 55 First St. that housed Air Studios for 13 years didn't stay empty for long after the fashion boutique recently . The 55 Group, which owns Air Studios, put a new business in their old place, a conceptual travel store called 1FiftyFive, which opened on Saturday.
While Air Studios and its other sister store sell higher-end fashions, 1FiftyFive is where where women can find everyday wear and especially clothes for traveling and visiting the beach, including tank tops, tee shirts, sun dresses, leggings and bathing suits.
“We wanted to go for more of a Hamptonesque feel,” public relations manager Kate Phelan said. "It's pops of color, very bright and open."

The merchandise buyer for the 55 Group's stores, Jeanna Palumbo, found several new clothing lines to sell in 1FiftyFive, including shirts from Tees by Tina, swimwear from designer Vix and tote bags from MZ Wallace. Palumbo also pulled the Riller & Fount dress line from Air Studios and tops and bottoms by VeronicaM from Platform.
“It's everything we were missing in our other two stores,” Palumbo said.

Since it is a store that sells clothes made comfortable for traveling, 1FiftyFive also sells luggage featuring the French line Lipault.
The renovated space housing 1FiftyFive includes new paint and carpet, plus a large cork bulletin board featuring maps and travel brochures, and where Phelan said the store hopes customers will pin postcards from their trips.
