NJ Man Wanting 'Woman Of My Dreams' Threatens To Blow Up Walmart

A NJ man has been accused of threatening to blow up a Colorado Walmart. He had a GoFundMe page to help "live with the woman of my dreams."

A New Jersey man who had started a GoFundMe page to help "live with the woman of my dreams" has been accused of threatening to blow up a Walmart, according to authorities.

Phillip Amabile, 35, of Bayonne showed up at the Durango, Colorado store Wednesday wearing camouflage and demanding $10,000, according to News12. He then threatened to blow up the store, and then tried to light a propane tank on fire.

Amabile started a GoFundMe page asking people for money so he could go see the "woman of my dreams"' in Michigan. He received one contribution of $170.

A GoFundMe spokesperson said: "GoFundMe has removed this campaign from our platform. For information about our terms of service, see here: https://www.gofundme.com/terms."

On the page, he said he's unemployed "due to past decisions" but was "begging for help from the world to help me raise enough money for me to go out there and have a little money for food and clothes until I can figure something out."

"I have been homeless for quite sometime and now living in a back bedroom of my mother's house," he said on GoFundMe. "This is pretty much the last opportunity that I have at getting my life right. I truly appreciate all and any help."

Amabile said he used to be an alcoholic and but, as of August 2017, he was clean for 20 months. He said he had a "past criminal record that causes employers to frown upon me. It is my wish and prayer to get to her before Christmas."

Amabile was arrested and was booked at the La Plata County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder, according to The Journal. “This whole thing was extremely concerning to us with someone making threats to a primary store in Durango,” Cmdr. Bob Brammer, with the Durango Police Department, told the publication.

Officers responded to Walmart about 8 p.m. when someone called 911 to report a man wearing all camouflage and threatening to blow up the building, according to The Journal. An officer on scene saw a man wearing a camouflage shirt pouring Paul Masson Brandy near 25 propane tanks locked in cages, and also carrying refillable lighter.

The Journal reported Amabile has a lengthy criminal history that spans multiple states, Brammer said. “He is a traveler,” he said. “Most of his crimes are property crimes. This was an extremely dangerous situation they (officers) were put into last night.”
