Official Hoboken Mayor, Council, School Election Results: Final Vote Totals Posted

After all mail-in and machine votes were totaled, the final results in the Hoboken mayor/council election were finalized Monday.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Now that all of the mail-in and machine votes in local elections have been counted, county clerks across New Jersey certified their election results Monday afternoon.

Below are the final numbers in the Hoboken elections, according to the County of Hudson. Also listed below are the vote counts in Hudson County for Gov. Philip Murphy and challenger Jack Ciattarelli.

  • Emily Jabbour (incumbent), Team Bhalla: 5,684
  • Jim Doyle (incumbent), Team Bhalla: 5,408
  • Joe Quintero, Team Bhalla: 5,286
  • Cheryl Fallick, Independently Together: 2,920
  • Sheila Brennan, Independently Together: 2,808
  • Paul Presinzano, Independently Together: 2,830
  • Manuel Rivera, Manny Rivera for Hoboken: 1,175
  • Ian Rintel, Too Many Politicians In Politics: 1,173
  • Cindy Wiegand, Your Friendly Neighborhood Councilwoman: 987
  • Patricia Waiters for Council, 797
  • Write-Ins: 39

Hoboken's municipal elections are non-partisan, meaning the elections aren't Republicans vs. Democrats, but various individuals and slates against each other.

Bhalla's team was well funded going into the race, amassing at least $171,000.

The election for six ward council seats will be held in 2023.


School Board Results

In addition to the mayor/council race, four candidates ran for three spots on the Hoboken Board of Education. The results were:

  • Ailene McGuirk: 5,205
  • Malani Caemartori: 5,002
  • Thomas Kluepfel: 4,237
  • Patricia Waiters: 3,199
  • Write-Ins: 124

What About The Governor?

Meanwhile, whom did Hudson County want for governor? In the heavily Democratic county, 88,066 voters chose incumbent Philip Murphy, while 30,443 picked Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli.

Three other candidates amassed fewer than 500 votes each, and there were 81 write-ins.
