Outdoor Dog Finds Indoor Love In Hudson County

Betsy allegedly spent most of her life confined to a yard in Jersey City without shelter and in miserable weather.

After spending most of her life confined to a yard in Jersey City – allegedly without shelter and in miserable weather - Betsy finally has a glimpse at indoor dog life.

Staff at the Liberty Humane Society, which services multiple municipalities in Hudson County, posted a message about one of their canine’s heartwarming adoption on Tuesday.

“Betsy was repeatedly picked up by Animal Control and brought to LHS in response to complaints from neighbors concerned for her welfare,” shelter staff wrote. “All that time spent without human contact or stimulation had left Betsy unsocialized and sometimes unpredictable, but shelter staff and volunteers kept investing in her with love and training.”

LHS staff continued:

“After three months at LHS, Betsy finally connected with her human. Her adopter came to the shelter last week and instantly fell in love, but needed to sleep on it. He left feeling sad, thinking of Betsy still in her cage all alone... and decided he had to come back. He sent us this picture the day after taking her home, saying ‘The first night was great…she slept like a baby.’”
