Police Dogs And Lie Detectors In Livingston: Kids Enjoy Police Academy (PHOTOS)

LIVINGSTON, NJ — For one week, pre-teens in Livingston got to learn about police dogs, police horses, policing the Hudson River, the bomb squad, and their local first responders.
The Livingston Police Department recently held their Junior Police Academy for rising sixth, seventh, and eighth graders.
The youngsters got to meet the Newark Police Department’s Mounted Unit, view a demonstration from the NJ State Police Polygraph Unit, ride with the Palisades Interstate Parkway Police on the
Hudson River, and watch theNewark Police Department’s helicopter land.

They also got lessons from the Essex County Sheriff’s Bomb and K9 Units, and spent a morning with the Livingston Fire Department.
Of course, they were treated to presentations by the various units of the Livingston Police Department.

Kids were able to sign up earlier this year, with a deadline of March 1. The first 70 students were accepted. Watch Patch and other media next year for information on signups.
