Right Angle to Open Second Location Uptown

The new custom framing store will be located at 1108 Washington Street.

will open a second Hoboken location uptown at 1108 Washington Street. It will also continue to operate out of its downtown location at 320 Washington Street.

The custom framing business has been operating in Hoboken since 1983, first on 13th Street before moving downtown in 1993.

Current owner Pablo Godoy bought the business when founder Toni Sullivan retired in 2007. He had been managing a restaurant in New York when in 1999 he saw a help wanted sign in the Right Angle window. Having a lifelong interest in carpentry, Godoy applied and was hired. He started part-time and then increased his workload to a full-time and supervising position.

“Carpentry was always a part of my life,” Godoy said. “I walked in and saw the ambiance and said I would love to work in a place like this.”

Godoy said he decided to open the second location in part to fill a void when another frame shop in the neighborhood closed.

Originally from Argentina, Godoy used to ride the bus through Hoboken after immigrating in 1993 and immediately admired the shops along Washington Street.

“I said I would love to have a shop in this town,” Godoy said. “I feel like that dream came true and more.”

Godoy said the new location will offer the same service and customer experience as the downtown location. He added that the new location, like the one downtown, will also display the work of local artists.

The new Right Angle is scheduled to open in late February or early March.

Coming soon: Midtown Authentic completes its move, and a big gym comes to Washington Street.
