See 75 Local Artists' Work Around Hoboken, Take Tours Led By Artists
75 local artists are displaying their work in the windows of Hoboken businesses, and several guided art walks and events are coming up.
HOBOKEN, NJ —Seventy-five local artists are displaying their works in 90 businesses around Hoboken through June 15 — and both the Hoboken Business Alliance and the Hoboken Historical Museum have scheduled art-related walks in the next few weeks.
The Museum has scheduled a "Famous Artists of Hoboken" walking tour Saturday at 1 p.m., touching on notable sites related to photojournalist Robert Frank, photographer Alfred Stieglitz, painter Willem de Kooning, and James Rado, co-creator of the musical "Hair."
And the Hoboken Business Alliance has scheduled a series of Art Walks starting that day, led by local artists Chesleigh Meade and Fabio Esteban. Get tickets and more information about future events at the link above.

“Art brings a special energy to communities, and Hoboken is lucky to be home to many diverse artists of all ages,” James Runkle, President of the Hoboken Business Alliance, said this week. “The ‘Through the Windows Art Walk’ is all about connecting residents and visitors to the vibrancy of our small businesses community while enjoying the works on display."
Children's art has also been included this year.

"We are especially excited this year to be including the Emerging Artist element, featuring the work of young Hobokenites," Runkle said.
He thanked Al Barsky of Barsky Gallery and Main Street Pops for curating the art and coordinating the effort.
In a press conference at Hair Cult salon on Monday, Mayor Ravi Bhalla said, "I'm thankful to the Hoboken Business Alliance, Barsky Gallery, the Main Street Pops, and of course all of the artists for making this program happen.”
Opening in 1998, Hair Cult was around for the “original artist community that thrived in Hoboken,” owner Laurie Michelson said, adding that the history is why they are proud to be a returning participant.
”It brings back the charm of what the art scene in Hoboken was known for,” Michelson said, also giving a nod to artist Suprina Troche, whose sculptures Hair Cult is displaying.
