Shake Shack Mystery: Burger Restaurant May Come To Jersey City Mall

JERSEY CITY, NJ — The popular burger chain Shake Shack may be coming to Jersey City's Newport Centre Mall, according to a report March 30 in Jersey Digs — but the information cited in the article seems to have disappeared from the mall website after the story was published.

Jersey Digs posted a map showing that Shake Shack will be positioned on the mall's third floor food court between Chick-Fil-A and Burger King.

As of this week, that spot appeared empty.

When asked about the matter earlier this month, a Shake Shack spokesperson said, "Right now, I am not able to confirm the Jersey City Shake Shack plans. I may have more information to share in the coming weeks." She declined to elaborate.

Jersey Digs said that Simon Property Group had listed Shake Shack on their page of stores, but it's no longer there.

In the meantime, those interested in the chain — known for drawing long lines in Manhattan for its burgers, shakes, sandwiches, and custards — can check out their sizable store that opened last year in nearby Hoboken.
