Shoe Repair Shop Settles Into New Spot
Giovanni D'Italia is now open at its new location at 266 7th Street.
Giovanni D'Italia, the city-honored shoe repair shop that has been in business for over 50 years, has at 266 7th Street, at the corner of Willow Avenue. The new location is two streets west from the old one, at the intersection of 7th and Garden Streets.
Owner Giovanni Perrupato, who grew up working in the family business, said he decided to move because the new location is a bigger space.
"Here it's more comfortable, especially for the customers," Perrupato said.

Perrupato brought the special street sign the city had erected at the 7th and Garden intersection naming it Cobbler's Corner. Since the corner of the new location is already named for Bobby "The Peddler" Ferrante, Perrupato affixed his sign to the side of the building.
But Perrupato was unable to convince the other famous fixture from the old location, a dog named Pazzo who sat in the window, into coming to the new one.

"He didn't like it," Perrupato said. "He ran out the door."
