Studio Z Opens Second Salon Downtown

Studio Z Salon now has a second location downtown to go with its other one uptown. The new salon at 80 Hudson Street had a grand opening celebration on Thursday.

Owner Leslie Palacios said that the new salon, which had its first day of business April 30, is meant to cater to Studio Z's clients from New York. Previously those clients would have to go to the location at 1200 Grand Street.

“A lot of our clients are from the city, and that made it harder for them,” Palacios said. “We've been looking for a location around here for a while.”

Palacios said being across the street from the PATH station has kept the new salon busy. “It's nice, they're coming,” she said.

The new salon also represents a return to Studio Z's roots. The salon was originally started by the late Steve Zebrowski in the early 1980's and was first located on the block near 80 Hudson Street. Palacios started working there in the late 1980's and later bought the business after Zebrowski passed.

The salon cuts both men's and women's hair, beginning at $36 and $75 respectively by master stylists with over 20 years of experience. Cuts with the other stylists on staff cost less depending on their experience.

In addition to hair cutting the salon offers coloring, facials, face shaving, hair waxing, spray tanning and other services. Palacios said about a half dozen employees work regularly at the new location.

The new salon is open Monday through Thursday from 11am to 9pm, Friday from 1pm to 7pm, Saturday from 10am to 5pm, and Sunday from 11am to 4pm.

Walk-in customers are welcome, and customers can also book appointments by calling 201-850-1123.
