Three Hoboken Post Offices May Close
A study has showed most people do not conduct their postal business in post offices anymore.

The United States Postal Service announced Tuesday that a study of 3,700 post offices nationwide would be held to determine is a need still exists to keep those locations open. Three Hoboken locations were included on the list.
Three postal offices are on the list of offices that may close after the study; the uptown branch, the west side location and the one on 14th and Washington Street.
According to a release on Tuesday from the U.S. Postal Service, the rise of postal needs being processed online and in retail stores have diminished the need for physical post offices.

“Today, more than 35 percent of the Postal Service’s retail revenue comes from expanded access locations such as grocery stores, drug stores, office supply stores, retail chains, self-service kiosks, ATMs and usps.com, open 24/7,” said Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe, in Tuesday's release. “Our customer’s habits have made it clear that they no longer require a physical post office to conduct most of their postal business.”
32,000 post offices are operated nationwide, as are more than 70,000 third party retailers, offering services such as stamps, the release said.
