Three Moms Run Unopposed For Hoboken School Board
In a politically heated town, it's nearly unprecedented.

HOBOKEN, NJ — Three incumbents are running in the November elections to remain on the nine-member Hoboken school board. Despite the city often being a hotbed of political conflict, they face no opposition on the ballot.
Current Board President Sharyn Angley is running for re-election, along with board members Chetali Khanna and Melanie Tekirian. Their slate is known as "Hoboken Together."
Angley said that among the three of them, they have six kids in grades three through eight.

"Over the last several years we have served together as trustees on the Hoboken Board of Education," she said. "Not only are we committed to the district as board members, but also as parents."
She added, "This year we have learned so many ways of how working together creates a stronger community. We believe that a strong community goes hand in hand with a strong public school district."

Students were able to return to the Hoboken schools in September for a full day on-site education, or full-time remote. The district also offered after-care and before-care options to parents who needed them.
"The district has made many milestone accomplishments and we are dedicated to continuing this progress by further increasing academic achievement, expanding learning opportunities, and broadening out of classroom experiences for our students," Angley said. "Our job has been and will be to serve all district students. We look forward to working together to move the district forward."
School board terms last three years.
