Two Drivers Charged With DWI After Separate Incidents In Hoboken
A woman was charged with DWI after a car crash in Hoboken, while a man was charged after his car was partly on the sidewalk, police said.
HOBOKEN, NJ — Hoboken police charged two drivers early this week with driving with intoxicated and reckless driving in separate incidents, including a car crash.
On Monday, Nicole Schweininger, 22, from Livingston, was charged with assault by automobile, driving while intoxicated, and reckless driving after a crash with another vehicle, police said.
Police said that at 11:20 p.m., Sgt. Dennis Figueroa reported a motor vehicle crash involving two cars in the area of 501 Observer Highway. Officers Damien Bates and Brandon Fitzgibbons came to assist.

The two officers suspected that one of the drivers was intoxicated, police said. Fitzgibbons conducted a standardized field sobriety test on Schweininger and determined she was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle, police said.
Three passengers in the other vehicle complained of experiencing pain after the crash, police said. They were treated by ambulance and no one was transported to the hospital.

Schweininger was transported to police headquarters and provided breath samples for chemical testing, then was charged. She was released to a responsible party.
Parked On Sidewalk
The day before, at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, a driver was arrested two blocks from Police Headquarters, police said.
Manideep Nama, 26, from New Brunswick, was arrested at 106 First and charged with DWI and reckless driving.
Police said that officers Bianca Arroyo and Nicholas Protopapadakis responded to 106 First St. on a report of a motor vehicle parked partially on the sidewalk facing the wrong way on a one-way street.
Upon arrival, they found a black Mazda as described above with a male identified as Nama sleeping in the driver’s seat, police said.
Officer Arroyo suspected that Nama was intoxicated and conducted a standardized field sobriety test. As a result, Arroyo determined that Nama was unable to safely operate a motor vehicle.
Nama was placed under arrest. At police headquarters, he provided breath samples for chemical testing. Nama received motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated and reckless driving.
Nama was released to a responsible party.
