Waldwick Man Arrested In Connecticut For Child Sex Abuse Materials

The Bergen County Prosecutor's Cyber Crimes unit investigated and arrested a Waldwick man on a child sex abuse materials charge.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Waldwick man was arrested last Thursday and charged with possession of child pornography, prosecutors said Friday.

George M. Silebi, 27, was arrested on Jan. 11 and charged with the third-degree crime, the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office said.

Prosecutors said that on Thursday, Jan. 11, members of the Prosecutor's Office Cyber Crimes Unit executed a search warrant at Silebi's home as part of "an internet child sexual abuse material investigation."

Investigators determined that he "used the Internet to view, download, and possess items depicting nude and/or sexually explicit prepubescent and pubescent children," they said.

Members of the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Cyber Crimes Unit travelled to Norwalk, Conn., where the Connecticut State Police and the Norwalk Police Department helped them arrest and charge Silebi.

He was processed by the Norwalk Police Department and released on bail, prosecutors said.

Then, on Tuesday, Jan. 16, he surrendered to Bergen County authorities and was taken to the Bergen County Jail. He awaits a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack.

assistance, as well as the Paramus, Hasbrouck Heights, and Washington Township
police fepartments, which participate in the Bergen County Cyber Crimes Task Force.
