WATCH: Hoboken Streets Flood As Storm Hits

Many took to Twitter to post photos and videos of the mess.

The National Weather Service’s prediction of flash flooding in Hoboken on Sunday evening has come true for some motorists.

A Hoboken resident captured the above photos of several vehicles getting caught in the flooding.
The National Weather Service issued a cautionary flash flood warning on Sunday for several areas in Northeastern New Jersey, including Essex and Hudson counties.

The warning will remain in place until 7:15 p.m. on Sunday, May 31.

The NWS cautioned motorists to use precautionary actions while driving in flood-prone areas of town:

“Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle in areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road. When encountering flooded roads, make the smart choice. Turn around. Don’t drown.”
