Hazlet Twp Offers Discount Swim Club Memberships to Non-Residents

A message from Hazlet Township

HAZLET, NJ--For a limited time, everyone can join the Hazlet Swim and Tennis Club at the same low rates paid by Hazlet residents--regardless of where they live.  The unprecedented announcement by Mayor David Tinker comes after the Township Committee unanimously authorized the temporary reduction in club membership rates for non-residents.

“When people in other towns learned that their old pool clubs were going to close, we received many phone calls asking if the Hazlet Swim and Tennis accepted non-residents,” says Mayor David Tinker, “I am happy to say the answer is an enthusiastic ‘Yes!’ and now it is even cheaper and easier to join than ever before.”

Those non-residents interested in memberships might be surprised to learn just how affordable a Hazlet Swim & Tennis Club membership is—packages start at just $105 for the whole season.

Over the past several years, a number of local pools, both public and private, have closed citing the high cost of operation.  “Last year, we instituted a number of reforms and relied heavily on the input of our club staff and our Swim Club Members Advisory Committee,” explained Township Administrator Brian J. Valentino.  “We turned the whole operation around in one year.  The Hazlet Swim & Tennis Club is well run, financially sound, friendly, fun and (best of all) affordable.”

Hazlet has made it easy for everyone to take advantage of this short-time offer by automating the entire application process through their innovative Hazlet GovOnline system, accessible through the township’s website at www.HazletTwp.org/swim.  “Now users can select their membership level, sign up their whole family and pay via check or credit card right on our website,” explains Mayor Tinker.

With four pools, a snack bar, playgrounds and changing rooms, the Hazlet Swim and Tennis Club also offers amenities not found at other clubs.  “Hazlet Swim Club members also have access to swim lessons, swim teams, youth activities and a fun and friendly environment where members come first,” explains Valentino who oversees the management of the pool utility as well as the bulk of the township’s municipal operations.  “We also offer free lounge chairs, loads of free parking, fireworks and all of the benefits of being nestled in the heart of Hazlet’s renowned 90 acre Veteran’s Memorial Park.”

Located at 1766 Union Avenue and accessible from Green Acres Drive, off Middle Road, Veteran’s Park also boasts lighted baseball fields and soccer fields, a skate park, roller hockey rink, hiking trails, picnic areas, barbecue pits, three separate playgrounds, streams, a pond and is also home to the John J.
